The Game Boy Color is Nintendo's colour-screen successor to the Game Boy, first released in 1998. It keeps compatibility with original Game Boy cartridges while adding a faster 8-bit processor, more memory, a 160 × 144 colour TFT display and an infrared communications port. The standard hardware model is CGB-001.
